Ions and Isotopes

Today, we had a short quiz over the periodic table's organization. We then completed our first lab using two pieces of tape. We observed them attracting and repelling other pieces of tape after being pulled off one another. We used this observation to discuss positive and negative charge and the atomic cause of charge. We looked at a few drawn examples of ions and indicated which part of the periodic table is most likely to be the home of positive ions and which part is most likely to show negative ions. Finally, we discussed isotopes and the use of carbon-14 in dating.
