Today, the students were told a short version of the life of Dmitri Mendeleev and his journey from poverty and familial isolation to being one of the first to publish the periodic table. We looked into the nature of the table and why it is "periodic." We also distinguished between periods and groups and discussed how groups share chemical properties.
